THE ENGINEERS HOSTS "THE 13TH HENLOW BEER FESTIVAL"STARTING ON WED.15TH OCT THRU TILL SUNDAY OVER 80 REAL ALES AND CIDERS OPEN ALL DAY EVERYDAY FOR FURTHER DETAILS RING THE PUB.In last two and half years this pub has been our local. We are now moving to Cambridge and one of the saddest parts is losing the Engineers.

Kevin and Claire have been great hosts whether we are in the 'posh' bar or the 'proper' bar. We have made some great friends here and somehow we hope to keep in touch.

Now the beer; I have not drunk a single pint of lager in this pub ever; the ales are always well kept and in the rare event of a bad one it is always swapped for a new pint. The range of ales is fantastic and I have found some real gems that I will always look for wherever I go. Sarah Hughes Ruby Mild...yummy...

Really going to miss this place although I hope to pop in from time to time...

I might suggest that "nice enough" is enough to make a place special in Luton... meanwhile, dependable stalwart though it is, is Tiger ever special? But, anyway, apologies "Bart" for any offence. Thankfully the pub has managed to accrue enough negative feedback (no doubt from discerning local drinkers) to take it out of the Top 40...Just read the last review on this place. I didn't give this place a bad rating and said I would be back. The landlord needs to watch his regulars if he wants to have a business!Blimey, getting into the “top ten” certainly attracts the bitchy comments doesn’t it? Maybe it isn’t the best pub in the world, but then I’m not sure how much value can be held in the opinions of recent contributors such as Mr “bilbosballbags”. Meanwhile comments about BITE “coming of age” from a contributor calling him/herself “Bart Simpson” should be given the respect they deserve.
One wonders if Bart and Bilbo are old enough to get into pubs, let alone ever visited The Brickies in their lives… or are just sad detractors blighting what, in the main, is a decent site? Just don’t let your local dare creep into the Top Ten.
Still, for what it’s worth, and as it’s five minutes walk from my house, The Bricklayers Arms is an excellent hostelry – and welcome to all (including fictional characters, if they can behave).

ate sunday lunch it was fresh and really lovely food. Childrens loved the massive garden with big equipment 2 play on. Seems to be a winner for families. Good prices on food felt home from home.new owners i think all staff were friendly and helpfull.Now it has changed hands it is a fantastic family pub with great fresh food at a good price. The gardens are beautifull with fantastic kiddie play area. It keeps the kids quite for ages!!! new owners are welcoming and realistic which is a refreshing change.
Def worth a visit and book for food its fab.New Management since June 08. Food very good, nice atmosphere and great service. Will go back soon.

i remember having to que up to get in the place at the weekends,now they have to pay people to go and if you do venture in, its like being at a toddlers teaparty!
the staff are rude sulky little brats who cant even dress themselves!
bring back the old crew, with the sexy barstaff that actually treated you as a human being and not a old aged teacher.
this place should either be burnt down and laid to rest, or it needs a very big shake up.
a reburb wouldnt hurt, and get back the old staff who were the best staff in the world, bring back the real ales and food, and bring back THE OLD HOB!!

The majority of the new staff are complete posers, the atmosphere has died...and what's up with the jukebox which plays dance and indie?! It's meant to be a rock pub! What happened to the decent MP3 selection? What happened to the live music?

It's a shame as I can tell the landlord is investing money into it. The mounted fans are an excellent idea, as were the tea lights on the table (which seem to have disappeared). He needs to revert back to the same music, atmosphere and bar staff he used over a year ago or face losing even more clients.saturday daytime trade is non existant (this pub in in the high street) - other pubs seem to do well, complacent managment perhaps ? poor choice of beers maybe..

not much in bedford to shout about..at least this serves real ale and cider..not too far from the bus station to pop in for a pee on that long haul from cambridge to oxford..quite big inside.I was served a piece of steak in there that resembled a Bison's testicle. Beware the mixed grill! It was pretty appalling. Half decent pint of beer mind you.Pretty much standard Wetherspoons pub branded as a Lloyds so TV screens and music played inappropriately loudly given the relatively few punters in there on the Monday that I visited. My pint of Pedigree was awful but a friend's guest ale was reported to be ok. Staff member didn't know what she was doing and seemed to have the attention span of a goldfish but she had only just started so some leniency due. However, the attitude of the duty manager left much to be desired - when the aforementioned inexperienced staff member approached him to ask what to do with a glove that she had found in the pub his response was "throw it in the bin". What a wonderful approach to lost property!

had a great saturday night here! awsome dj great staff! and not a hint of trouble at all. will be coming back for sure.Well since this pub has been under new management it has certainly turned around! I am regally in here Wednesday / Friday and Saturday nights and I can say I have never seen a chav within 100 yards.
Great new dj, s on Friday and Saturday nights and 4 big screens and 10 plasmas to watch the footie on.
And I have never seen any hint of trouble!
The dance floor is always packed! On a Saturday and they have some of the best drinks offers around.
So Eddie you may just want to stay at spoons and have a nice pint of smiths before you afternoon nap.
I am thoroughly embarrassed to admit that I was, once again, coerced into this establishment – on this occasion a quiet Tuesday night, just as some football had finished on the big telly. Just for the record then, it remains a

Rich and Terri offer a warm welcome and have a good range of real ales and beer. One of the cheapest pubs around. A real drinkers pub. Lots of regulars who mostly are decent people. They just need to sort the music out and buy a decent stereo. They always have the footie on and theres a real good atmosphere. I would highly recommend this pub.Chavie,

Were you get asked to leave/barred from the White Horse or something?From my experience: The White Horse is a clean friendly local pub with good conversation. I liked the pub because of the wide-variety of real ales i've discovered there.

They run IPA and London Pride as resident beers, alongside a variable guest beer e.g. Black sheep, Tribute, Abbott, Adnams, Broadside, Old Speckled Hen, etc....

They also run a guest ale from a local brewery in Tring, which varys from week to week.... most customers ask to try before they buy, so don't be afraid to ask.

Now under new management (with effect from 30 May) Hopefully, the previous high standards will be maintained.A real traditional country/village pub(one of the few left). The beer is always excellent and the food is good value.

Well worth a visitThought it about time someone wrote an up to date review of the Bright Stat at Peters' Green, Near Luton. Our family and friends have enjoyed many a drink at this pub along with food too! Have ALWAYS had a great time, great food and Bernie and Nick the licencees always offer a very warm welcome whether you you're a local or a visitor from outside the village!

We visited today (Sunday). Two out of three meals were good; one wasn't but we complained and received an instant refund. The service was very good (one unfriendly waiter but the others were really pleasant) - quick and attentive. Unfortunately I have to agree with a previous reviewer - there isn't much vegetarian choice (today it was either mushroom soup or a cheese and spinach filo parcel). I would return and think it's worth a visit. We all enjoyed our puddings.Large pub, well laid out, with pleasant bar / lounge surrounded by seating and beyond this rooms to either end which felt like dining areas. The whole place, despite being very quiet, yesterday 12:40, evoked an atmosphere of country dining pub, albeit the specials menu was very limited. The whole feel of the place is enhanced by photos, prints, brass plates, knickknacks, bed-warming pots, grandfather clock (defunct) and hop garlands around the bar and throughout. Mellow soundtrack, Dean Martin etc. Just IPA & Broadside on handpump, though the latter was very good. Lots of picnic sets outside so I imagine it will be very popular with families in summer. Pleasant pub, glad I popped in.A good simple food pub, the type where you get a wooden spoon with a number on it! Standard pub grub served in a timely manner from a friendly face.

Had a meal here a few months back now, all in all very average. It's definitely a McPub. Uninspiring.Nice pub, nice location, food average, could be a lot better very easily. Shame about the staff and service: There's either too many staff on so they sit about reading the paper, chatting etc but forget to check if anyone's waiting at the bar. When its busy there can be a wait to get served as staff seem to go for regulars first. There is a nice mix of ages so the atmostphere should be good but often in little cliques, most of whom are either friends of staff or parents of staff so the service is always a bit lacking. Such a shame as a good manager with a good grip could make this into something so much better. Ale in good nick, food typical industrial catering standard. Requested extra gravy for my bangers & mash, no can do as all portion controlled, i.e. it all comes out of a plastic bag. Food here used to be very good, if the guy dressed up as a kitchen jocky couldn't knock up a portion of gravy, then he should not be in a kitchen!!!!

Another one that is actually in Buckinghamshire.Very nice,clean and well presented pub with some lovely food.Beer is well kept,reasonably priced and served by a lovely lady with a winning smile.
Pity about some of the locals sitting at the bar all the time preventing visitors getting to it!Historically interesting. Well presented food but expensive if you are not a pensioner! Sweets are great'
