Had heard bad things about this place but was determined to give it a try. The previous comments sum it up well. JayF - 8 Jul 2008 21:15
The IPA and other cask ales are served too cold so they don't taste right. The pub is staffed by surly teenagers which totally spoils the atmosphere. Jay28 - 26 Mar 2008 16:38
The new Landlord since Christmas 07 briefly had an imapct with a slight improvement with the staff, but has reverted back to its previous ways. Food still poor (it is always possible to hear one complaint at any one time in the evening), but the staff remain the biggest letdown. Four people cleaning tables/chin wagging, one person serving ten people waiting is a usual snapshot. Shame for such a lovely building and grounds. pumpermuncher - 16 Mar 2008 08:29
Wife and I took old friend out for meal on Saturday evening. Comfortably busy, atmosphere oldy worldy pub feel - relaxing and comfortable. However, food took along while to arrive. 2 of the meals were good (gammon & chips), but the sausage and mash was adequate until I hit the last sausage, which to be quite honest I would not have taken home and fed to my dog, so rock hard it must have been reheated several times, I could not even get a fork to penetrate it. Staff young with a couldn't careless attitude. Seems a shame. andyboy45 - 8 Apr 2007 10:36
Visited for a birthday lunch. Food awful, staff unfriendly and unhelpful. One person was a vegan and the only offering was stale salad and cold chips. When we asked for 2 spoons so 2 children could share a dessert the barmaid said she couldn't put that on the computer, so we would have to ask the waiter ourselves. Couldn't she have asked him??? Also check you bill - we had been charged for someone elses drink and didn't even get a 'sorry'. Our first, and definitely last visit to this pub. anonymous - 6 Nov 2006 16:10
