I feel that I really must update my previously negative review about this pub.

In fact it's considerably more abominable than I remember it being. The shameless little fleshy landlord still holds court over his public palace, slurring indistinguishable orders at frightened staff.

One wonders whether the Twickenham commmunity would rise up one day; storm the building and kill the pudgy, red-nosed slob as he sat there prosperously; shouting "Get out!" They could put his swollen head on a spike at Traitor's Gate?

Don't visit this pub, it is a truly unrewarding experience.

Had avoided this place as i thought it would be some sort of plastic touristy place with rugby shirts all over the walls. To be honest i was put off by the name. However i discovered that it was quite a traditional pub and the bombadier was in fine fettle. Think the manager was out but i saw 3 respectable lads turned away as they were under 21 ??
Surely they could relax that law.
Has been called the barmy arms for over 50 years ?? Anyone know the origin of the name ?

The barman (manager?) has been unpleasant most times I've been in recently. This evening I was sitting indoors in a small group and he wedged open an external door some two yards away from us, creating instant chill. Horrible.

I visited this pub again recently and really enjoyed the experience. As I said in a post around Christams time, I have always found it to be a friendly and welcoming pub with great food (an excellent bbq this time around with very creative options). You will find that the beer is kept excellently, particularly the London Pride. The river view is superb.

Give this 3/10. Really only good for the tourists....Mediorce beer. surly bar-staff, rude manager, antiquated bogs
