Mine is a long and drawn our review of The Tup, Twickenham. It is based on a visit to the pub on the occasion of the Ulster/Leinster Heineken Cup Final (yesterday, as it happens.) It is not a very favourable review but is absolutely honest and heartfelt. But, as I say, it does go on for a biut, so I post this link to my page where you might read it (and I hope that's ok with Beer in the Evening). If all ios fine, you can copy n paste this address http://bit.ly/KnNcu0. Please enjoy it (unless you own The Tup Twickenham, then go fuck yourself. MB, Dartford, Kent. mbealing - 20 May 2012 15:21
Gastro pub but a nice one. No longer the Twickenham Tup but back to the old name of The Royal Oak. Not normally my type of pub but have a pleasent night there last week. The food is simple but very well cooked. Dont expect anything like it has been in the past, much more up market now and the prices reflect that. Rugby days? Havent been in but heard that is a good crack. Would visit again. the_light_knight - 19 Nov 2010 14:25
This pub has now been tarted up, renamed the Royal Oak (its original name) and had its personality surgically removed. Went in last night and was charged £5.50 for a pint and a half of Twickenham Naked Ladies. £5.50! And there was deafening music. About an hour beforehand I'd been in the Antelope in swanky Eaton Terrace and was charged £3.50 for a pint of strong beer and £3.25 for a pint of London Pride. If a Belgravia pub can charge that for a pint, why can't an ordinary suburban local like the Royal Oak? Moderate_Nige - 14 Nov 2010 22:56
the pub critic you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. the music license has not been pulled at all. they still have live music on a friday saturday and sunday night. the staff are all amazing and so friendly and the reason it looks like it is only their friends holding the place together would be because the staff are so friendly everyone who drinks in there is made to feel like there friends and everyone gets on. and yea the drinks are cheap but they are not as bad as you say in the slightest. and the way the pub it is attracts the people they obviously want there which looks like its not you, howitis - 12 Jul 2010 22:32
