Had a few pints of Adnams (Doombar was off that night) in here just before Christmas. Bit pricey but the beer was well kept - there also seemed to be a good range of ales. Food also served. pchaimba - 4 Jan 2009 23:01
Good pub if you like wine and food. Bad if you are a pikey. That is good for me. 10/10 rjbradburnesq - 18 Dec 2008 01:12
...further to my previous comment I must say that the situation has been monitored closely and I can safely say that it is the nicest pub in New malden - food looks great (although I haven't eaten here yet), well kept beer, good atmosphere - pretty much an antithesis of the railway it used to be. Live Jazz trio last night and cheerful, friendly bar staff with pleasant dispositions and nice views. Only the bar prices stop me giving it a 10 although to be fair it's not a place you'd go to to get hammered unless you wanted a 3 figure bar bill. Should do well!! 9/10 B.R.Drinker - 25 Oct 2008 06:03
On my way out of this pub after lunch today, I commented to the manager that we had had a great meal, and how pleasantly surprised I was to find good food, at a reasonable price in new Malden, and he asked me to post my comments on the web-site, so here goes. I like the refurb - the Railway has been a scary dive in the past. Very pleasant atmosphere - laminate floors, clean, tidy, and real log fires were a nice touch. Staff - very peasant - one of the girls suggested I try a blush Pinot Grigio as she liked it - it was lovely. The service was very good, and friendly, and chatty when we wanted to chat, without being intrusive. We had a query over the cheese course and the bill: both queries were handled considerately and to our satisfaction. Food - all very good - I had Provencale Fish Soup - it was served as you'ld get it in France with croutons, gruyere, and aoili, - delicious. Then Sausage and mash, which was good. I was in a party of 6 and everyone had a good meal, well presented and tasty. Price - we had either 3 courses or 2 courses and coffee, 3 bottles of wine, and it was £170 for the 6 of us, without service, which was fair, I thought. : just over £30 a head with service. sharonz - 17 Oct 2008 18:57
went again the other Saturday. Service had improved and the atmosphere of the place was good without being too noisy. The kitchen still has work to do but the wine is really excellent. simonfromnewmalden - 17 Oct 2008 18:41
