Absolutely awful service. I visited for the first time the other day, and went to the bar to see the food menu. The elderly lady serving gave sarcastic responses, and was extremely short tempered, saying 'this is a pub, not a restaurant!' (I was only trying to order a hamburger with a pint!). After this, I decided not to even bother ordering food from there. It was the worst pub service I've had in years, and I've been to a few!

Popped in here on new years eve,was quite impressed that they weren't charging to get in,unfortunately I found out why when I ordered my pint of Strongbow which had been hiked up by 70pence a pint from £3.50 to £4.20 pint. They hadn't even changed the tarriff on the wall, talk about cashing in,even the barman seemed embarrassed!

This is a great pub. I very much enjoy going there and not just for the sports, the Thai food is very good value and always looks fresh & appealing. The ales have all always been available when I have been there and the guys who serve them are really chirpy chaps who you can have a bit of banter with. They also have a good wine list so it's great for popping into for post & pre-theatre bevvies. The theatre poster decor on the ceiling and the pictures of famous actors on the walls always keep us amused trying to name as many as we can....

I can't see why anyone would go here, except perhaps for the convenience of the location, its outdoor tables in warm weather, or to watch bigscreen sport.

I went last Monday evening, about 7.30pm, and it was full enough for there to be few tables free. Of three bitters available on tap, one was already off by the time we arrived, and another was off by the time we were ready for a second pint. What sort of pub cannot keep two or three beers properly stocked on a relatively quiet weekday (Monday) night?

There's nothing really *wrong* with the place, I just can't see why anyone would go here instead of to some of the nearby alternatives, such as the excellent King's Head

From reading the reviews you'd think this was some insane sports bar - which i guess it may well be if the footy is on. But i went on a Friday night and it was nice to find a pub in this area that wasn't completely and utterly rammed. You could get served quickly at the bar by friendly bar staff.

Doom Bar on tap which tasted OK, not amazing.

Not a bad pub overall, although not quite as good as the Stage Door round the corner (although that pub is a little more brown / old man so maybe if you're on a date, go to the windmill, or a restaurant!).
