A square box of a place not the most aesthetic of places and a little run down but still one of a very few places that serve a proper pint in Swindon (possibly the only one in the "new" town). The Cotswold Wickwar Way was quite drinkable on this visit.

The Glue Pot has always been a source of a decent pint in Swindon. It went through a disappointing phase some time after HopBack took it over and stopped the poular free house philosophy which was a big shame... and the decline in clientele showed the effects. However, despite that, a couple of hardworking licensees later we have a pub that does the HopBack/Downton range with the occasional guest and manages to keep its head above water, although as Hodge says, it's not the cheapest. Today the HopBack Entire Stout was punctuated with Mauldon's Black Adder. You could do a lot worse!

Pub half empty last night (Friday) Entire stout an astonishing £3.30 a pint, you need deep pockets for a session here...

Great little pub with a great range of beers (Hop Back and guests). Very handy for the station and not that far out of the naff shopping centre. Shame about the old Railwayman's Institute across the road (boarded up and looking very sad) however this pub is well worth finding. A couple of benches outside when the weather is good but it's the beer you go for - and they do rolls!! Small bar area but probably the best pub in Swindon (certaily in this part of town).

After traipsing through Swindon trying to find a decent looking pub, we finally stumbled across the Glue Pot, and boy were we glad to find it. We were in the area for one night only, but really loved the place. The beers were excellent, the staff very friendly and welcoming to two strangers with a Sunday night in town to kill.

We loved it to bits, and would have stayed for much longer had it done food. The barman helpfully pointed us towards the few places we could get a meal.

Should I ever come back to Swindon, I know which pub I'll be heading to. The Glue Pot's a cracker.
