Myself and a friend used this bar on a business trip to London 3rd Feb 2008 The staff were excellent and food was extremely good and good value for this area Cant say good enough i would recommend to anyone without hesitation....

Went here last Sunday having been once previously to the carvery, which I was very impressed with.
However, the carvery has now been replaced with a run-of-the-mill Harvester/Wetherspoons type system, whereby you choose your meal from a menu and go to the bar and order your food stating your table number - although the staff did allow me to order my drinks with my meal I got the distinct impression that this was an exception to the norm and that I would normally have been told to go to another part of the bar to order my drinks (that's one up to Wetherspoons then, where at least you can order food and drink together). I'm afraid the food wasn't up to much either - my mash potato tasted supiciously like Smash and my wife's roast beef was cut so thin you could almost see straight through it!!!
Ok, ok, I know this is a site about pubs and not restaurants, as I was driving I didn't have a beer and so I can't comment on this, but I will agree with previous posts in that this place has no atmosphere. I don't really think it can be classed either as a pub or a restaurant - it may as well be a social club for all the character it has!!!
I won't be returning. Whitton may not be known for great pubs but there are plenty better than here.

Went there recently after their refurb and they've made a total horlicks of it losing cosy seating inside and installing too much bench-seating outside.

Where you were once able to sit outside & enjoy a relatively quiet family lunch you are now unable to fit a wheelchair (or even a buggy) between the seats. Guess they've tried to cram in more outside seating because of the smoking ban - at the expense of accessibility.

No point going back I suppose, oh well.

Winning Post - Arrived Sunday evening 11th December realising we could not researve a table to eat and was informed that we had to wait approx 40 minutes. Went to the bar to order a few drinks, the bar person looked like something from a horror movie with rings protuding from his mouth/lips (something to be said about customer relations). Order two pints of Youngs beer the barrel then ran out and they had no stock.(Pub with no beer comes to mind)

Unable to get a decent drink, not really knowing if we were to get a table an attenpt at being served by I am not sure what, used the mobile phones to book a table at the county arms with decent beer, excellent service and good value

well emma i think you must work here, as i have had the carvery and wasn't that impressed & have been told by friends some sunday lunch horror stories that would turn yer stomach.

how this place survives is easy - business functions/coach trip stops plus a small hotel on the backend of building supplying captive punters and a passing trade of people/reps travelling down the busy A316 duel carrigeway.

in my view, stay away from this cold faceless unfriendly motorway sevice station style pub. the beer is poor & overpriced, the staff are chavy arrogant gits etc. the only plus side is you wont get bashed up in here! i personally will take my chances in a rougher pub with some atmosphere......
