| The Sale Hotel is my local and has been for the last 14 years. Its had its ups and downs over the years with Management changes and less desired clientel, otherwise known as "idiots!". There was a time about 3 years ago when I stopped going in and refused to take my daughter due to the behaviour of some of the idiots, 1 in particular who actually used the rear entrance varanda as a toilet! need I say more. However on a positive note the Management who encouraged that type of clientel is no longer there thankfully, and since then things have improved for the better. The Sale Hotel has always been a family pub and I have always taken my daughter (apart from a short spell a few years back), as do many others. There is a large patio area and small grassed areas outside with plenty of seating where the children can play and as most of the families who go are regulars all the kids know one and other and the parents look out for each others kids which is great. There is such a large car park they could use some of it to make a play area, this would then attract more families. The staff are lovely, very friendly - Daves the best! Good atmosphere,foods not bad, my daughter can recomend the Chocolate Fudge Cake and prices are average. I've had many a good night in "The Sale" and have no doubt will continue to do so. | Gone down hill lately, full of idiots barred from other pubs, gangs of teenagers hanging around outside, can be intimidating for alot of people. The Sale hotel would make a great family pub serving food with part of the carpark made into a play area, after all it is in the middle of a very surburban area, cater for the people who live local not the idiots who set fire to the umbrellas and break glasses in the street. anonymous - 8 Jul 2006 15:53 |
| Sale Hotel is what I would call an "old mans pub" but that doesn't stop me (a 19 yr old student) from going. Quiz night (thursday) is always good (despite the face you have to be over 50 to know most of the answers...) Some drinks are a little on the expensive side... | Not bad food-some good offers. Bottle of wine for under a fiver. Went in with a mate for the first time on New Years eve (2004/05) with the impression i was in for a crap night...how wrong i was! Never thought about trecking up to the Hotel before-never appealed to me. I had a really good night though,it was quite busy.The young DJ was brilliant and had everyone (including all the bar staff) dancing and singing along with him-we had a laugh!Even my mate was up dancing...and she normally just stays seated!There was a small fight near the end which was dealt with quickly by the door staff that was on,but other than that it was a trouble free and fun night.Been in a few times since and had food. Staff always seem friendly. Bit rowdy on football days-but other than that not a bad pub all round. Needs Modernising a bit though-especially the toilets. I believe quiz nights are good,with the DJ who did New year-although i havn't been in on one yet. Average to above-average pub. | Dave's a dude, so I can put up with the dukebox - saying that, I have nothing against the music selection when I'm in a mellow mood... Never busy enough to make me leave, the food's spot on, and the pool table's not usually busy for long if at all. Not a scope of clientele I find particularly preferable but doesn't bother me.
