Always a good place to eat. Beers always OK - slightly on the cold side and a bit too expensive (£3.20 ish) especially when the Halfway and Eli's are so close! A bit more food orientated (but very good food) martyngs - 20 Oct 2011 21:19
The place was totally empty when we visited. A nice if somewhat formal garden with plenty of space and a friendly dog.We both had a ploughmans which was excellent value for money with plenty of cheese and ham and bread plus other bits and pieces plus possibly the best chips for miles around. The only criticism was the temperature of the beer, much too cold for a bitter.Friendly staff just a shame about the lack of customers. mangelwurzler - 18 May 2010 20:33
Still pretty much as alehouses described, beer now served direct from cellar as hand pumps were redundant, check board over bar for ales on, Moor Merlin's magic and Bath Spa both in good order. Lots of people eating so the food should be OK. brewguru - 12 Nov 2009 09:52
this place has changed hands several times over recent years...... considerably changed since 2003....now with bright modern fittings and bar style, certainly in-keeping with trendy wine bar/cafe type. so the real ale is no longer a top seller and is therefore a bit variable in quality and of course over-cooled via a modern 'pipe-python'. which also means the cold-lager sells like hot-cakes. ......yawn!!! alehouses - 7 Feb 2008 14:03
