Quality little place, pretty well unspoilt, and interesting public alleyway running right through the middle. Good ale on pump, probably one of the best round here if you're looking for an authentic cosy pub.

I’ve always liked this pub, but hadn’t been for quite some time until recently.

Greene King IPA, Old Speckled Hen, Youngs Special/Ordinary, Courage Best and Harvey’s Best were all available along with the usual lagers. I found the staff to be very efficient and although there were hoards of people outside the inside was quite comfortable. There is also plenty of seating in the upstairs bar if the bottom is rammed.

The toilet is tiny and you have to watch your step as you exit it as a fall down the stairs and into the cellar is not impossible.

Don’t be put off by the big crowds outside as this place is worth a visit.

Saturday 22nd early evening. Already full and people outside on the street. Cant remember much about it so I guess it was OK.
Normally a fair pub with good ales and a queue for the blokes loo.

Very hit and miss is my experience of the lamb. Beer is normally pretty good , but the place is small , always enjoyed more in the summer when we can stand outside. worth a visit most days.

Always liked this pub, even sat through the jazz on a Sunday evening. Old chap behind the bar can be abit grumpy at times, but adds to the character. Came across their St Georges Day celebrations by accident and enjoyed the free snacks laid out on the bar. Bitter has been pretty reliable in my view.
